Signs of Good Movers
The day of your move is probably the most stressful day of the entire process and with everything happening so fast it can be hard to pay attention to the little details that prevent a huge disaster.
First off when the driver arrives that day do a quick inspection of the crew that shows up. Make sure that the truck that arrives at your residence has the name of the company on it or at least a logo.
You want to be sure that you have invited professional movers to your home and not some guys that have a bread truck, especially with so many companies renting out big trucks anyone with a license. See if they have a Department of Transportation number on the side of the truck as well. You should also be visual of the crew that arrives also. Make sure that they are all in uniform and seem to know what they are doing.
Some moving companies will send a new guy along on moves as a part of training and that is fine but if majority of the crew looks lost or like they have not done this before you may want to call the company and request a new crew be sent out there or cancel the move with them completely. I know that cancellation fee sounds bad but if you have time we recommend that you cancel your move if it is just not going the way you planned.
Sometimes the cancellation fee can be significantly lower than the cost to repair or replace any lost or stolen items caused by the bad moving company. So remember, look for a physical office address and beware of any shady estimates or high deposits. If what they are promising sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Ask if they offer in-home estimates and find out if they are accredited by the BBB. When the crew arrives on the day of your move check for uniforms and logos on both the men and the trucks. Look for a DOT sticker and keep an eye out for anything that looks shady. As a professional relocating service we are here to accommodate you and your needs to the best of our abilities.
