The Risk Of A Hazardous Weather Or Hydrologic Event

Georgetown Moving and Storage Co. reserve the right to postponed a job without taking any responsibility in case of the risk of a hazardous weather or hydrologic event issued by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

National Weather Service, which is itself a branch of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration can issue:

- Emergency: the term used to declare when a major storm severely impacts a city, county or town.

- Warning: "hazardous weather or hydrologic event that is occurring, is imminent, or has a very high probability of occurring" and generally refers to an advisory issued by an official meteorological department to warn citizens of approaching dangerous weather.

- Watch: "the risk of a hazardous weather or hydrologic event increasing significantly, but its occurrence, location, and/or timing is still uncertain" and typically refers to an advisory issued to indicate that conditions are favorable for the development of dangerous weather patterns, although the dangerous weather conditions themselves are not currently present.

Additionally, the NWS breaks down warnings and watches based upon the specific type of hazardous weather. These warnings and watches include, but are not limited to, hurricanes, tornadoes, and severe thunderstorms.

The term Warning is also used by the NWS to warn of high wind conditions not associated with tropical cyclones.

- Weather Alert / Advisory: issued by the National Weather Service when "a low pressure system produces a combination of winter weather (snow, freezing rain, or sleet) that presents a hazard, but does not meet warning criteria".

- Hazardous Weather Outlook: "weather statement issued to provide information of potential severe weather events". The outlook may include information about potential severe thunderstorms, heavy rain or flooding, winter weather, extremes temperatures.
